The special edition gets you a metal case, art book and soundtrack – at least in Europe.

The folks over at Namco Bandai have announced the release date for 'Tekken Tag Tournament 2,' and its coming right on the heels of the one year anniversary of the arcade release.

It's not clear whether the European and US collector's editions of the game will have the same contents, but if so you can expect an art book, soundtrack, metal case and a behind-the-scenes video. Preorders will, as you might expect, come with bonus characters. We can only assume that those will be unlockable as DLC in time.

You'll get over 50 playable characters, new fighting modes and more.

'Tekken Tag Tournament,' originally released in 2000, brought the idea of tagging partners in and out to fighting games and made way for a huge change in the landscape. This September, the sequel to the game will finally be hitting the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

'Tekken Tag Tournament 2' is based on the Japanese arcade title 'Tekken Unlimited Tag Tournament 2' and ups the 44 character roster to a roster of over 50.

One new addition to the game is Pair Play, which allows four players to participate in the same battle. There's also a new Fight Lab mode, which aims to teach new players and hone the skills of experienced ones.

'Tales of Xillia' May Be Heading to the States!

At least, that's what recent trademark filings in the US and UK suggest.

Next month the folks at Namco Bandai will be having a press event where they'll be announcing some new products and recent trademark filings show that fans of the 'Tales' series could be in for something very cool.

It seemed for a bit like 'Tales of Xillia' was going to be one of those frustrating Japan-only games, but it's been officially trademarked in both the US and UK, which means that, at the very least, the company is considering it. The game's been out since the fall in Japan.

And of course, fans of the series can get their hands on the recently released 'Tales of Grace f' while they wait.

Capcom, Namco and Sega Teaming for... Something.

Wed Feb 22, 2012 at 12:30 PM ET
Tags: Capcom, Namco Bandai, Sega, Nintendo, 3DS (all tags)

The collaboration was announced by Nintendo, though the details end there.

This morning, Satoru Iwata announced that a new project was in the works for the 3DS. He didn't say what the project was or show screenshots or a trailer or even reveal the name. What he did say though, is enough to create a huge amount of buzz. The upcoming title will be a collaboration between Capcom, Namco Bandai and Sega.

The trio have launched a teaser site that tells us very little, but does involve a series of numbers that someone on the internet will certainly figure out quickly. When the site first launches, we see a hand punch in numbers on a keypad - 032760.

Theories abound as to what the new title is, from something as simple as a game collection to a mashup fighting game akin to 'Super Smash Bros.' Whatever it is, we hope to find out more soon.

Namco Bandai is Forming a Studio Focused Solely on Game Development

And yes, everyone from the former 'Tales' team will be coming along.

When we heard about the 'Tales' team was being dissolved, we saw is as a bad sign for the franchise. As it turns out, this was the start of a bigger move for the studio as a whole.

Namco Bandai has long been both a publisher and developer of games, but now it seems that's too much to put under one roof. The company is splitting off its developers into a separate studio that's focusing purely on development.

The new group, called Namco Bandai Studio, will be formed April 2nd and will take care of projects like 'Tekken,' 'Soul Calibur,' and the 'Tales' franchise. Over 1,000 people will be employed at this new studio, including all of the staff from the former Namco Tales Studio.
