Konami and Platinum Games working on the "bug."
'Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance' hit the PC yesterday, and immediate impressions reveal the game to be a decent PC port with a handful of nice additions and relatively limited visual options.
Unfortunately, the game has an aggravating issue, it only works when online. Not only does the game not work in Steam's offline mode, but when playing the game normally, losing an internet connection for a mere second or two causes the game to exit out to Windows.
The effect is one of online DRM, but while many are outraged at the notion and experience, Konami and Platinum Games have described the issue as an unintended bug, which they are working to fix.
OK. Getting to the bottom of offline play. It is a bug. It is not supposed to work like that. We are working on a fix and will update soon.

We are aware of the offline play issue for Metal Gear Rising for Steam and are working on a fix. Please stay tuned for more updates!

Hopefully a fix will come soon, and allow players to tackle 'Revengeance' without worrying that a lost connection will kill the game.
