In just 16 days, Activision pulled in a cool billion.
'Call of Duty' is big business. Crazy big business. Want that in a number? How about $1 billion in just 16 days. That's an average of $62 million a day. That's far more than the average person will make their entire lives in a single day. Not bad Activision.
CEO Bobby Kotick has to be thrilled with the performance, but not just because the number is a milestone for Activision. Earning a billion dollars in 16 days puts 'Modern Warfare 3' a step ahead of 'Avatar,' which took 17 days to do it.
"Engagement of our 'Call of Duty' audience continues to rise around the world," says Kotick. Adding that the game "has made an indelible mark on popular culture and its broad and continued success is further validation that audiences increasingly value interactive experiences over passive experiences."
