Hunt game, play karaoke, swing a motorcycle.
Later this year, Sega will bring 'Yakuza 5' to North America, and when that happens, western players will get to experience the latest in Sega's wonderfully deep third-person action RPG. Everyone who plays the 'Yakuza' games knows their favorite min-game, but more importantly, they know exactly how they like to finish off opponents when they brawl. (Breaking a street sign in half on a guy is a good one.)
In the latest developer interview for 'Yakuza 5,' we can see glimpses of the three new cities, Fukuoka, Nagoya, and Sapporo. As explained by General Director Toshihiro Nagoshi and Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama, it's not a coincidence that 'Yakuza 5' (as with the other main games in the series) is packed with activities, landmarks and style notes that are immediately recognizable as Japanese, however, this flavoring was for the benefit of Japanese players. It's a continuing surprise that the games have such a large western fan base.
As for the brawling, 'Yakuza 5' will feature special Ultimate moves for each protagonist, so while it will still be fun to grand a motorcycle and swing at an enemy, getting in those Ultimate moves will likely become a key aim.
'Yakuza 5' is coming to the PS3 as a digital title later this year.
