A pre-E3 teaser.

Ubisoft has revealed that it will be publishing a 'Star Trek'-based VR game for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PlayStation VR this fall.

As revealed in an Associated Press report, 'Star Trek: Bridge Crew' is a co-op VR experience that can support up to four players at a time, taking the roles of captain, tactical officer, engineering officer, and helm officer. Using a VR headset and VR handheld controllers, players will pilot a ship called the Aegis through the J.J. Abrams version of the 'Star Trek' universe.

The game is being developed by Red Storm Entertainment, a Ubisoft subsidiary that has worked largely on the publisher's 'Tom Clancy' titles.

'Bridge Crew' is set in an area of space called The Trench as players look for a planet that can become a new homeworld for the Vulcans. The game will include more than just combat, featuring space exploration and missions that are both randomly generated and narrative-driven.

"It's up to you if you want to try the Kirk approach or be more methodical," David Votypka, Red Storm senior creative director, told the AP. "The game is more about how you and your crew approach situations. It's not binary. Is it more important to save the Vulcan scientists or rescue everyone on the planet? It might be too difficult to do both. It's just like the show. There's not any one right answer."

Expect to see more of this game revealed at Ubisoft's E3 conference Monday at 4 p.m. Eastern (1 p.m. Pacific).
