75 million courses played.
With 'Super Mario Maker' Nintendo has another runaway hit. Although it's clearly a Mario game, the actual designing part of the game makes it something new for the big N, and even better, it is a game that heavily relies on the Wii U's GamePad.
Today, Nintendo announced that more than 1 million units of the game (physical, bundled, and digital) have been sold since the September 11 launch date (September 10 in Japan).
With a million copies out in the wild, there are even more fun numbers to share. 2.2 million courses have been created and in turn, those courses have been played 75 million times. Even better, the units sold contributes to a total 310 million units sold in the Super Mario franchise.
From Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime, "For Mario fans around the world, including myself, Super Mario Maker was a dream 30 years in the making. The game has captured and unlocked the imaginations of gaming fans of all ages and brought their dedication to Nintendo to a whole new level."
Obviously, the game's quick success is a big boon for Nintendo and for the Wii U system. 'Super Mario Maker' joins a great line-up of games.
