'Blast Ball' players will have to buy the full game.

Nintendo released a free demo of 'Metroid Prime: Federation Force' in July that only featured the game's multiplayer 'Blast Ball' mode. It allowed players to play online, and was originally supposed to end in September. The original end date was postponed, but we now know that the servers will go offline at the end of the year thanks to a message on the Nintendo eShop.

Here's the full message from the Nintendo eShop:

"Thank you for your continued support. The online multiplayer feature for the Metroid Prime: Federation Force Blast Ball demo will be discontinued at 2016/12/31 23:59 PST. The discontinuation of this demo feature will not impact the online multiplayer feature available in the full version of the game."

Next Level Games' 'Metroid Prime: Federation Force' is available now exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS.
