New video gives the rundown on what to expect next week.
We're officially a week away from not just being able to dance on the corpse of the Xbox One's currently godawful UI, but also having to brush the dust off all of our poor, neglected 360 games, so they can be reborn once again through the miracle of backward compatibility.
No doubt, however, there's still some questions for those of us not privileged enough to get into the Xbox One's Preview Program who have been able to play around with the feature for a few months now. To wit, Major Nelson has posted this video, featuring FLitz from YouTube gaming troupe Smosh Games, to show off how the feature will work. The tl;dw version is that backward compatible digital purchases will show up in your Library automatically, no work necessary. Anything you own on disc, you insert the disc, the digital version downloads to your console, and then game on. You'll just need to insert the disc each time you want to play. Also, might want to take a little time in the next week uploading all your saves to the Cloud, because they're definitely transferable to the Xbox One.
There's also some simple niceties shown off here, like the 360's in-game Guide being accessible and fully functional, while still being able to access the Xbox One's version without a hitch. What we continue to need is a list of backward compatible games, which will be officially announced sometime this Monday. Real talk, though: if 'Red Dead Redemption' is on it, we can already call this whole thing a triumph. Take a look at the coolness below.
