You've built the world's strongest prison. Now it's time to break out of it.
Early Access darling 'Prison Architect' will be finally launching for real October 6, and it will come with a brand-new Escape game mode where the jailer becomes the jailed and is forced to escape his own prison.
What started as a silly joke by game designer Chris Delay has turned into its own fleashed-out game mode with RPG elements, Delay told Eurogamer. The scenario began as an idea of the prison's warden being convicted of corporate manslaughter (y'know, because of all those prisoners you let get killed) and arriving at his own prison to serve his sentence. The Escape game mode as it stands now comes with an RPG system where the player, as the new prisonser, rises through the ranks of prison life, eventually attaining legendary status among the other inmates.
As prisoners, players will be able to do everything that frustrated them when they were still the warden. They'll be able to steal hazardous equipment from lazily guarded areas and use them to dig their way out of their cell. Players will be able to play this Escape mode in their own prison creations or in any of the thousands of prisons already uploaded by the community.
On launch, 'Prison Architect' will also get four new chapters in its story mode.
