Space requirements detailed for new DLC and accompanying update.
If you're still playing 'Destiny' on a last-gen console, consider this your two-week warning: Bungie today posted the space requirements for the major title update which will enable 'The Taken King' and bring all the promised enhancements to the game. It's, well, not small.
PS4/Xbox One owners will feel the pinch the least: The update will require about 18GB of space, which is par for the course nowadays.
Previous gen systems are a different story: The Xbox 360 version will need 10GB of space.. The PS3 version, however, will need closer to 20GB to even perform the install. Once it's done, it'll take up a slightly less obstructive 10GB.
"Well, forget that," you say. "I just won't download the update." Yeah, about that? The update will be required in order to even play the game after September 8th, whether you're buying 'The Taken King' or not. Naturally, the typical options apply: clearing the space off yourself, upgrading your hard drive, buying a current-gen system (keeping in mind that yes, you can in fact transfer your characters/stats/gear/etc, long as you're going PS3-to-PS4/360-to-Xbox One). Activision does, however, have a system set up where, if you're a current 'Destiny' player using a 20GB console, and none of the other options are feasible, you can actually contact their support to get some assistance finding a solution for you, though it's unclear exactly what that assistance will entail.
Either way, you have some decisions to make. This is your two-week warning.
