Ouya – An Open Source Android Game Console is on the Way

The company has already tripled its goal on Kickstarter and there are 28 days left to go.

When new game consoles are announced, they're often met with skepticism and a healthy dose of "yeah, good luck with that." Ouya seems to be different.

The game console comes in at a mere $99 and, at least on Kickstarter, an extra controller will run you $30. Every single game will, at the very least, have a free demo. You won't be paying for a game you haven't tried.

It's customer friendly in its price, but also in the customizability. Because it's an open source console, the folks behind Ouya actually encourage you to hack it and use it as you see fit.

It's an Android based console, which allows developers a low price of entry and ease in making games. Compare that to the big three, which charge massive licensing fees and require a huge amount of investment.
