Light at the end of the tunnel, folks.
The road out of being pulled from Steam due to mind-blowing negligence is long and hard indeed, but we're almost at the end with 'Arkham Knight'. A post on the game's official page on Steam states that the game should be up to snuff sooner than later.
"As many of you know, we released a major patch for 'Batman: Arkham Knight' PC a few weeks ago. While there were significant performance improvements made to the game, the teams are continuing to work on the additional updates that were outlined in our previous post. We expect these updates to be ready at the end of October, at which time the PC version will be made available for purchase. In addition, support for all DLC that has been released for the console versions will be in place. "
If there's any further consolation to be had for PC folks, it's that given the very psychologically creepy plot, October's actually kind of a perfect time to play the game. There's even an awesome little easter egg for the folks that manage to complete a certain sidequest involving a certain Dr. Kirk Langstrom, and log into the game on Halloween. Time will tell if the damage has already been done.
