The gamble of "going rogue" explained.
A new Community Q&A video on Ubisoft's YouTube page has cleared up a few questions about the Dark Zone, the special PvP area found in 'Tom Clancy's The Division.'
Most of the questions focus on the process of "going rogue," which is when a player decides to forgo the cooperative aspects of the Dark Zone and instead tries to kill other players for a chance to snatch their loot. When you kill your first player, you become rogue for two minutes, during which time your position becomes known on other players' maps and other players try to kill you to win the bounty on your head. Players who kill a rogue will also get to split the Dark Zone experience points that the rogue loses.
Each additional player you kill resets and increases your rogue timer, up to five minutes. If you survive long enough for your rogue timer to end, you win your own bounty, giving a little more incentive to taking the rogue risk.
Friendly fire is turned off in the Dark Zone, so you can't hurt your teammates if you are foraging in a group. You can opt to leave the group if you're looking to go rogue, but your teammates do get a little of advanced warning so that they don't find themselves the victims of the cheap shots of a player with rogue ambitions.
Finally, the development team cleared up the fact that PvP in 'The Division' only exists in the Dark Zone, and there is only one Dark Zone in the whole map, though it takes up a large area.
