Called 'Guardian of Gotham' the episode has players in Arkham Asylum after the Penguin has taken control of Wayne Enterprises. Players will have to make allies on the inside in order to escape the insane asylum. Telltale says that the fourth episode will involve some major choices that will greatly impact the fifth and final episode. In a prepared statement the developer said that "Players will leave this episode in very different places depending on where they choose to go in the third act, and this will greatly affect their story rolling into the season finale as well." That means players should think long and hard before they make a choice that could potentially backfire. Most notably are, of course, the Game of the Year awards, which are as follows: Doom (id Software / Bethesda) Inside (Playdead) Overwatch (Blizzard Entertainment) Titanfall 2 (Respawn / Electronic Arts) Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (Naughty Dog / Sony Interactive Entertainment) Some of the other notable categories include Best Studio / Game Direction: Blizzard (for Overwatch) DICE (for Battlefield 1) id Software (for Doom) Naughty Dog (for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End) Respawn (for Titanfall 2) Best Narrative: Firewatch (Campo Santo) Inside (Playdead) Mafia III (Hangar 13 / 2K Games) Oxenfree (Night School Studio) Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (Naughty Dog / Sony Interactive Entertainment) Best Independent Game: Firewatch (Campo Santo) Hyper Light Drifter (Heart Machine) Inside (Playdead) Stardew Valley (ConcernedApe / Chucklefish Games) The Witness (Thekla) This is only a sampling of quite a few categories, of which you can see the full list here. It has also been stated that game reveals at the ceremony will contain little CG in response to the backlash that 'No Man's Sky received, as the game was first shown at the 2013 VGX Awards, also headed up by Game Awards manager Geoff Keighley. It's a welcome shift for the show, to be sure. As far as the GOTY award itself, I'm personally hoping 'Overwatch' wins out there. The Game Awards 2016 will air on December 1st at 6:00 PM P.T. The event will be livestreamed, but for those interested, tickets can be purchased here. 'Birthdays' is a (fantastically-named) god game where players will create cube-shaped worlds and shape the evolution of each planet's lifeforms. The publisher describes the game as follows: About From the creator of Harvest Moon, Mr. Yasuhiro Wada (Toybox Inc.), comes Birthdays the Beginning: a new sandbox game in which players create cube-shaped worlds that give rise to diverse and unique lifeforms. With careful experimentation, players can shape the geography and alter the temperature of each world to create the conditions for life and witness the birth of an entire ecosystem! Key Features A World All Your Own – Create any world you can imagine! From staggering mountains and sprawling forests to a deep sea dotted with islands, there’s no limit to your creations. Life from the Beginning – Discover the history of everything as you foster life of all shapes and sizes – from single-celled organisms to complex multicellular life, including plants, mammals, dinosaurs, and more! Cultivate Your Imagination – Imagine, Experiment, Create! Shape your planet and decide how plant and animal life evolves. No two planets will ever be truly alike. I really like Yasuhiro Wada's body of work, particularly 'Harvest Moon' which gave rise to 'Rune Factory', one of my favorite game series of all time. I admit I'm not terribly into god games, but this looks charming enough that I might have to give it a shot. Source: NIS AmericaPosted Tue Nov 15, 2016 at 05:20 AM PST by: -

Idea Factory International Announces Upcoming Releases for 2017[teaser]A host of new and exciting announcements.[/teaser] During a press event last week, publisher Idea Factory International announced a slate of new games due out in the first half of 2017. First up, a worldwide Steam release of 'Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force' has been revealed for early 2017. The game will have options for English and Japanese text and voices, and will be the first simultaneous worldwide release for the publisher. We reviewed the title earlier this year and found it to be fun, if flawed in a few key areas. Next up, we have 'Dark Rose Valkyrie', set for North America and Europe on PS4 in Spring 2017. The game is a dark fantasy JRPG about a covert military group in an alternate 1929 that works to eradicate mysterious shapeshifting enemies. One of your own characters will be randomly selected to become infected, and the player must work to discover who they are through interrogation before they destroy the group from the inside. It's a fun concept featuring work from 'Tales' series veterans Kosuke Fujishima on character designs, and writer Takumi Miyajima handling the plot. It will have both English and Japanese voicework. You can catch an English trailer right here: Next up is 'Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds' a PS Vita remake of the beloved 'Hakuoki' series of romance visual novels centered around the historical figures of the samurai of the Shinsengumi. The game boasts over 80 hours of playtime, 30 different endings, and 12 different romance options. You can see its debut trailer below: Lastly, we have 'Mary Skelter: Nightmares' a dungeon crawler for the PS Vita set in a nightmarish prison, with a cast of fairytale characters such as Thumbelina and Snow White. The game boasts a complex job system and twists on the dungeon crawler formula that sees players laying down traps to stop enemies from pursuing them in order to stay alive. I'm actually pretty interested in all of these, save for the PC port of 'Fairy Fencer', which I've already completed. Idea Factory puts out rough games, but they always build upon their decent ideas and come up with unique concepts. I'm definitely excited about 'Dark Rose Valkyrie', which has a cool setting and some great sounding gameplay hooks. Source: Idea Factory InternationalPosted Mon Nov 14, 2016 at 06:33 AM PST by: -
