'Atelier Firis' Heads West in 2017 on PS4, PC, and Vita[teaser]Series heads to PC for the first time ever.[/teaser] Today, Koei Tecmo games has confirmed that they will be releasing 'Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey' to the West in Spring 2017 on PS4, Vita, and PC via Steam. This marks the first time an entry in the series has been released on PC and tells the story of an adventurer named Firis who embarks on a journey to become a certified alchemist. For the first time, the series allows players to choose what aspect they want to focus on: Combat, alchemy, or character relationships. You can see the debut trailer below: I wasn't a fan of 'Atelier Sophie' the entry that this is a direct sequel to, but it sounds a great deal more ambitious than that entry, and seeing the franchise take the leap to PC in the West is great news. Here's What You Need to Know About 'Super Mario Run'[teaser]Full info on modes, release date, and pricing.[/teaser] Nintendo's beloved plumber is set to finally make his iOS debut next month, so it's time to get acquainted with 'Super Mario Run.' The iOS title will be a free download on December 15th, as players can "try elements of the game's three modes." Those who like what they see in the free trial will want to purchase the game for $9.99. This is the only money Nintendo will be asking from players, as there are no microtransactions in the auto-running platformer. 'Super Mario Run' features three modes in total: 'World Tour,' 'Toad Rally,' and 'Kingdom Builder.' The former will be the most familiar to 'Mario' fans as it has the mustachioed hero attempting to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser. To do so, he'll have to clear six worlds (which feature 24 new courses). 'Toad Rally' on the other hand is a competitive mode where players will try to gain the highest score by collecting coins. This mode is accessed by using 'Rally Tickets,' which are unlocked from playing the main game. Rounding out the package is 'Kingdom Builder,' which allows players to customize their own version of the Mushroom Kingdom. They'll be able to use coins earned in 'Toad Rally' to buy new buildings and decorations. "The wait is almost over for a 'Super Mario' game that can be played on mobile devices," said Nintendo of America's Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Doug Bowser. "Developed under the direction of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, 'Super Mario Run' brings a new take on the series’ beloved action-platforming gameplay to iPhone and iPad for the first time." 'Super Mario Run' releases December 15th for $9.99. It's compatibile with all iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices that run iOS 8.0 or later. 'System Shock' Remake Delayed to Q2 2018[teaser]Simultaneous release is planned.[/teaser] In an update from Night Dive Studios, it has been revealed that the upcoming remake of 'System Shock' is not heading for its originally intended December 2017 launch, and will now be released in Q2 2018. The news isn't all bad, however, as the shift in release date is allowing the team to target a simultaneous release on all platforms. They have stated that a simultaneous release still isn't confirmed, but they'll be trying their best to meet it. Additionally, the studio has released new concept art for the game: The studio has also announced that they've begun work on a vertical slice demo that will reveal how the game should feel when it finally launches and how the visuals will look, while also providing insight into how long it takes to create content for the game. While the delay is a shame, the studio is being really upfront about everything, and I greatly appreciate that. Here's hoping the end product turns out every bit as noteworthy as its predecessors. 'System Shock' will release on PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, and PS4 in 2018. Source: Night Dive StudiosPosted Mon Nov 21, 2016 at 06:36 AM PST by: -
'Final Fantasy XV' 101 Trailer Gives Overview of the Game's Story and Gameplay[teaser]Plus, details on the day one patch revealed.[/teaser] Today, Square Enix has released an extended 101 trailer for 'Final Fantasy XV' that gives us a comprehensive overview of just about every aspect of the game, including descriptions of the characters, world, and story, as well as explanations of the game's structure and gameplay. You can get a look at it right here. It's worth noting that while there is a fair bit of story information, almost all of it is made up of background details and things that have already been made clear in 'Kingsglaive', so there's nothing here that would really constitute a spoiler: Additionally, the studio has detailed what will be in the game's day one update: Camera improvements will make it easier to track action in narrow areas. Wait Mode will get an ability tree for more in-depth strategic elements. A Monster Whistle that can be used to call out monsters will be added. New event scenes from 'Kingsglaive' and the game's Omen trailer will be added. New recipes and fish as well as a gallery function will be added. Social network functionality will allow players to upload Prompto’s photographs to Facebook and Twitter. I really can't wait to play this. This was announced before I'd even started high school, and now it's out next week. It almost feels surreal, but I'm extremely excited. 'Final Fantasy XV' will be released on PS4 and Xbox One on November 29th. You can find the latest info on 'Final Fantasy XV' linked from our Video Game Release Schedule. First 'Civilization VI' Patch Closes Exploits, Adds UI Updates And AI Fixes[teaser]RIP Scythian horse economy.[/teaser] 'Civilization VI' developer Firaxis has released the game's first big patch, and it touches on everything from sizable bug fixes to small graphical bonuses. In addition to two new maps and a new multiplayer scenario, a couple of notable balance changes are included in the new patch. Units can no longer be deleted when they aren't at full health, and deleting units no longer provides gold, stopping players from scrapping wounded units to deny opponents the benefits of defeating them and earn a good bit of gold on the side. Further, policies that increased production of horse units have been weakened, closing one exploit that allowed the Scythian civilization, which has a built-in bonus for cavalry production, to produce several horse units quickly then immediately sell them for a huge gold profit. Other exploits, like sending builder units far away to chop distant forests outside of a player's territory for cheap early-game production, have likewise been closed. The game's AI, a source of contention in the game's community, has also received some attention in the patch. AI-controlled players should now be more competitive in terms of fielding a modern military and earning both science and tourism. Diplomacy with AI players has been further refined in that friendly civs will stay friendlier for longer, and declaring a joint war with another civilization will no longer incur warmonger penalties with that civilization. The patch has updated some of the game's user interface as well. The game's leader selection screen, victory screen, espionage menu, and Great Person menu have all been updated, among others, and players will now be able to see which tiles their cities will naturally expand to next. You can find a full list of changes and fixes in the patch notes posted to Steam. Source: FiraxisPosted Sun Nov 20, 2016 at 09:46 AM PST by: -
'Dishonored 2' Getting New Game Plus Update In December[teaser]Part of Arkane's "play your way" philosophy.[/teaser] An update for 'Dishonored 2' will be adding a New Game Plus game mode as well as custom difficulty settings next month, publisher Bethesda announced. The announcement didn't go into detail about what exactly either of these additions means. Traditionally, "New Game Plus" suggests restarting the game with a character's upgrades intact. If developer Arkane Studios chooses this route, Corvo or Emily would be able to start from the beginning of the game with access to the entire suite of Void abilities cultivated in their previous playthrough. "Custom difficulty settings" are a bit more nebulous, but on the surface it seems like the developer wants to give players even more options for how they would like to play the game, whether they just want to explore the game's lore without a lot of guard harassment or test their skills against the most brutal AI the game can muster. Both of these changes were introduced in the context of Arkane's "play your way" mantra, which the developer explained further in a video, shared below.
