'Inside,' released back in July, was Playdead's first game after its hit debut 'Limbo' in 2010. The game garnered consiberable critical praise, much like its predecessor. Playdead also noted that both 'Inside' and 'Limbo' are now on sale on Steam—25 percent off 'Inside,' 80 percent off 'Limbo,' and 49 percent off the bundle of both, as of this writing—though it's hard to know how long this sale will last now that Thanksgiving weekend is ending. 'No Man's Sky' Foundation Update 1.1 Details Revealed By Hello Games In New Video[teaser]Stake your claim in an untamed universe.[/teaser] The first big patch for 'No Man's Sky' is here, and developer Hello Games broke down all of the major additions to the game in a new video introducing the so-called Foundation Update. Perhaps the most substantive change is the addition of base-building. Players will be able to claim a planet as their home and begin constructing their own base on their new turf. Players can customize their base using a fluid-looking interface shown off in the video, easily adding hallways and new rooms. In their base, players can store resources, grow crops, and recruit aliens to serve as specialists for farming, engineering, weapons, and science. Players can teleport to and from their base using teleporters at space stations. Players with full pockets can also purchase expensive freighters that can be summoned from anywhere. These freighters seem to operate like mobile bases and can be customized in much the same way. The Foundation Update also separates the game into three different game modes. The Normal game mode is what players have been playing up to this point. Creative mode takes some of the danger out of the game to encourage players to explore and build more, while Survival mode does the opposite, turning the game into a struggle for players who want a challenge. A collection of quality-of-life changes are included in the update, many of which focus on the game's lack of inventory space, a source of many community complaints. In addition to being able to teleport goods to their freighters, players will be able to stack five instances of the same item in one inventory slot, increasing the effective space in their digital backpack. The Foundation Update also adds new resources and technologies, graphical updates, and plenty of small fixes. A full list of changes can be found on the developer's website. Hello From The Other Side: 'No Man's Sky' Devs Re-emerge For An Update[teaser]"Foundation Update" hitting this week.[/teaser] It's been two months since Hello Games quietly slunk away from the spotlight, amidst howling criticism from the gaming public and mixed reviews. Many assumed Sean Murray had just decided to take his ball and go home, given the uncharacteristic silence following the game's release. This may turn out to be far from the case. While everyone was out doing Black Friday shopping, Hello Games threw out a quick blog post, detailing that something called "The Foundation Update" will be rolling out this coming week. Now, the particulars of what's in the patch, we're not quite sure yet, but the post does state that it will be adding "the foundations of base building", one of those "broken promises" that was supposed to be in the core game. However, the post follows that statement up immediately after with the fact that this update "is putting in place a foundation for things to come." Cryptic, yes, but we all saw what happened when Sean Murray and his crew got too chatty for their own good about what could be in their game. It'll be better for everyone if 'No Man's Sky' is able to surprise us by getting closer to the game they sold rather than create another uncontrollable Hype Whirlwind that devours all. Moreover, it's rather heartening to see Murray and his team haven't given up on their baby just yet, and may be hard at work trying constantly to make it better. New 'Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifices' Trailer Focuses on Sound Design[teaser]Documentary goes in-depth on auditory hallucination.[/teaser] Ninja Theory has released a new trailer for their upcoming PS4 action title, 'Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.' The video focuses on sound design, which is a major part of the game due to the main character, Senua, hearing voices in her head. It's something that the team at Ninja Theory had to do a lot of prepwork on, as they know that tackling mental illness has to be done tactfully. Check out the almost 10-minute long video below. It goes deep into auditory hallucination and the stigma that surrounds it. It's great to see a developer touch on such topics, and to make sure they do so properly. 'Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice' is being independently published by Ninja Theory and is expected to release in 2017 for PS4 and PC. Source: Ninja TheoryPosted Fri Nov 25, 2016 at 04:11 PM PST by: -
'Street Fighter V' Support Planned Until 2020[teaser]New fighting games are possible before then.[/teaser] 'Street Fighter V' didn't have the strongest launch, but Capcom has added quite a bit to the game in its first year. From new characters to a story mode, the game has a lot more content than when it launched in February. That's only the beginning though, as producer Yoshinori Ono revealed that support is planned up to 2020 in an interview with Famitsu (translated by Event Hubs). When asked about how far ahead Capcom is thinking about supporting 'Street Fighter V,' Ono said that "it's not just a 1-2 year thing." He revealed that the company is looking further ahead and have already planned out "as far as 2020 or so." Capcom producer Tomoaki Ayano also chimed in saying that "we're adding on to as it goes along, so we're working on it while planning ahead on the best way to develop it further." Another topic touched upon in the piece was if the team would work on any other fighting games in that time period. "I'd be happy if we could," answered Ono. "But first, we'd have to solidify 'Street Fighter V' as an eSports title. I said in the beginning that we've seen a higher number of entrants than we had in the 'Street Fighter IV' era, but we'd like to heighten that even further." 'Street Fighter V' is available now on PlayStation 4 and PC. Order from Amazon Order from Amazon Source: Famitsu via Event HubsPosted Fri Nov 25, 2016 at 04:00 PM PST by: -
