'Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice' Delayed to 2017[teaser]Developer states that they aren't willing to compromise on quality.[/teaser] Ninja Theory has announced that their upcoming action game 'Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice' will not be releasing in 2016, and will instead hit PS4 and PC sometime in 2017. The studio has cited numerous reasons behind the delay, notably a cancellation of another project at Ninja Theory that took time to sort out, a collaboration with Epic Games focusing on performance capture technology, and that progress simply hasn't been as fast as they would like, and they aren't willing to compromise on the game's quality. You can watch a production update on the game right here: And hear a piece of music from the game: Here's hoping the delay only leads to the game being as good as it possibly can be. Ninja Theory is a talented studio, and I hope their foray into independent production pays off. Source: Ninja TheoryPosted Thu Dec 1, 2016 at 06:05 AM PST by: -
'Final Fantasy XV' Ships Over Five Million Copies At Launch, Fastest-Selling Entry in the Series To Date[teaser]The 10-year gamble has seemingly paid off.[/teaser] Square Enix has announced that the recently launched 'Final Fantasy XV' shipped over five million copies on launch day, including both physical and digital sales. Additionally, it has been announced that 'XV' is the fastest selling entry in the franchise to date. While exact sales numbers haven't been revealed, in Japan the game has the highest number of first-digital copies sold, while in Asia, it had the highest physical and digital first-day sales recorded for the franchise. While I expect the game to be one of the most divisive entries in the series, I really have loved the 16 hours I've been able to put into it so far and I'm glad to see it doing well. The open-world aspects are genuinely extremely interesting, and the central cast of characters is fantastic. the studio will be focusing on DLC and other content for the game from here on out, and I'm excited to see what they do to expand an already massive game. 'Final Fantasy XV' is available now on PS4 and Xbox One. You can find the latest info on 'Final Fantasy XV' linked from our Video Game Release Schedule. Watch Two Hours of English 'Persona 5' Gameplay[teaser]Atlus shows off the opening hours of the JRPG.[/teaser] While 'Persona 5' has been delayed until April 4th, Atlus is offering a consolation prize in the form of two hours of footage. While this might just make the extended wait for the game's North American release even more unbearable, it's still the first look at the English version of the game. The video is an archive of a livestream that Atlus USA held earlier this month, and takes place fairly early in the game (although not at the very beginning). Those worried about spoilers can still check out the video, as there's nothing groundbreaking shown off here. Check out the full stream below: The video's description gives a great summary of 'Persona 5,' and should serve as a solid primer if anyone doesn't feel like devoting two hours to the full video: 'Persona 5' is a game about the internal and external conflicts of a group of troubled youth who live dual lives. They have the typically ordinary day-to-day of a Tokyo high-schooler – attending class, after school activities and part-time jobs. But they also undertake fantastical adventures by using otherworldly powers to enter the hearts of people. Their power comes from the Persona, the Jungian concept of the “self;” the game’s heroes realize that society forces people to wear masks to protect their inner vulnerabilities, and by literally ripping off their protective mask and confronting their inner selves do the heroes awaken their inner power, and use it to strive to help those in need. Ultimately, the group of Phantom Thieves seeks to change their day-to-day world to match their perception and see through the masks modern-day society wears. 'Persona 5' launches in North America for PlayStation 3 and 4 on April 4th. It's the first main entry in the 'Persona' series since 2008's 'Persona 4' released on PlayStation 2. The Harshness of the Battle School - 'Batman - The Telltale Series – Guardian of Gotham'[teaser]Takeaways from a PC playthrough.[/teaser] In October, my time as Batman in 'Batman - The Telltale Series' had reached critical mass. (See here.) As is often the case, Batman (and for sure, Bruce Wayne) was under assault on all sides, and Gotham both as a city and as a public edifice, is quick to lay blame on the Dark Knight's door. But this time out, with the younger, prequel-esque/modern era Batman, the entire array of calamity felt personal. This Batman may have a short history, but his enemies appear to have attended the 'Old Boy' school of slight and revenge. With the fourth and penultimate episode of 'Batman - The Telltale Series,' the 'Guardian of Gotham,' Batman's low state isn't looking all that sunnier. (See the spoiler-filled review here.) And really, that has me thinking. Nearly every prequel or character reboot promises to bring the audience closer to a new understanding of a beloved character. With 'Batman - The Telltale Series,' Bats/Bruce is getting an education, and it's on the level of Ender Wiggins. Batman may be the champion of preserving life (such as the bad guys' lives), but death and disaster pervade his world. Bruce Wayne is an orphan of tragic circumstance, but newly orphaned children are around every corner. Almost nothing Batman has done in the series has stemmed the escalation of violence. Ultimately, Batman has a better time with his enemies than with his friends. His family, which was once the source of motivation, is not only a liability, but an outright living nightmare. This is hardly a first for Bats, but the grand scale war of attrition and deception with his rogues, has separated him from being able to help almost anyone. I've previously praised Telltale for keeping this Batman yarn focused, but this fourth episode did come perilously close to becoming just a set of cameos. Happily, it's not long before things get back on track, and there are still plenty of baddies to keep things interesting. More interesting, while the "choices" in the series can be frustrating as they can feel like closed loops, I finished this episode to find my choices aligning with around 40% of players. That suggests that across five choices in the episode, the player base was close to evenly split. In at least one case, I want to know how the opposite choice would have affected things. Playing on the PC made for a happy experience. Granted, I stuck with using a wired Xbox 360 controller, but aside from one pretty hilarious animation bug (which saw Bruce Wayne walk through a bearded crazy man before speaking to him) and some missing lip sync, my experience was great. When it comes to Telltale games, I think PC is the way to go whenever possible. Now to wait for the finale. Order from Amazon Order from AmazonPosted Wed Nov 30, 2016 at 02:45 PM PST by: -
