'The Division's 'Survival' Expansion Gets a Trailer, Playable Now on PC[teaser]Uplay owners can test the mode before it's officially out.[/teaser] Ubisoft has released a new trailer showing off 'Tom Clancy's The Division's 'Survival' expansion. The second of three expansions for Ubisoft's third-person shooter shows a new side of the open-world game. The 'Survival' expansion adds in the titular mode that fittingly has players trying to survive a blizzard. Players will be stripped of their gear and have to journey to the center of Manhattan in order to retrieve an important package. The mode will matchmake up to 24 players into the same map, and these characters will all attempt to survive the harsh conditions. To do this, players will have to manage several different in-game systems. These include: warmth, hunger, dehydration and sickness. While the new mode will use the game's main map, there have been new hideouts added and heavy snowfall has changed the environment. PC owners that also own 'The Division's DLC pass can try out the mode now on the game's Uplay testing server. While no release date or pricing details were given for when 'Survival' will officially release on Steam and Xbox One, it's confirmed to be coming in 'The Division's 1.5 update. It will arrive on PS4 one month later due to Ubisoft's marketing agreement with Microsoft. 'Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization' Launch Trailer Released[teaser]Reboot the world.[/teaser] Today, Bandai Namco has released 'Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization' on PS4 and PS Vita, the latest in its line of action RPGs based on the hit anime and light novel series. You can get a look at the game's launch trailer showcasing elements of the gameplay such as the real-time combat, socializing with other players, and more right here: I was a big fan of the developer's previous entry in the series 'Hollow Fragment', which did an admirable job simulating an MMO within a single-player context. The next game 'Lost Song' ditched the MMO aspect for the most part and I didn't enjoy it nearly as much, but developer Aquria has returned to 'Hollow Realization' and gone back to what made the first game such a compelling experience. As someone who never liked the anime series the games are based on, I'm surprised by how excited I've been to play this. 'Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization' Is available now on PS4 and PS Vita. Check Out Two More Trailers for 'Resident Evil VII'[teaser]There's something lurking in the shadows.[/teaser] Today, Capcom has released the final two trailers in its 'World of Resident Evil 7' series of videos. The series has shown off some of the smaller details surrounding the game such as item management and puzzle solving, and these last two are particularly intriguing. First off, we have Shadow, which gives us a glimpse at a monster that will be appearing in the game. Though it's hard to see, it certainly doesn't look like a zombie. Lastly, we have Aunt Rhody, highlighting the song from the initial reveal trailer for the game. This one is particularly creepy, and I'm surprised to see that the song appears to play a bigger part in the game than anyone really expected. I absolutely cannot wait for this. Each one of these little trailers has increased my interest in the game, and that new monster design is very creepy. 'Resident Evil VII' will be released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on January 24th, 2017. You can find the latest info on 'Resident Evil VII' linked from our Video Game Release Schedule. 'Rez Infinite' Will Run in Native 4K on PS4 Pro[teaser]PlayStation VR also improved.[/teaser] 'Rez' creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi went to the PlayStation Blog to detail how 'Rez Infinite' will be better on PS4 Pro. The big change is that the game will run at a native 4K resolution of 3849 x 2160. This is provided, of course, that players own a 4K-capable display. No new patch will need to be downloaded to enjoy it, as it's already enabled in the current version of the game. That's not all though, as PlayStation VR players will also see a major difference in image quality. The game will now render at a 1920 x 1080 resolution instead of 1440 x 810. Mizuguchi says that this boost in power makes "each particle look a little more clear, a little more solid, adding up to objects and enemies that look more distinct and “real,” whether close-up or at a distance." 'Rez Infinite' is available now exclusively on PlayStation 4. The shooter launched alongside PlayStation VR last month, but is also playable on televisions. N7 Day: 'Mass Effect: Andromeda' Will Put Players in a New System Next Spring on PS4, Xbox One, & PC[teaser]There will be wonder, and there will be violence.[/teaser] It's N7 day, and that has already meant some big things for Xbox One players. (See here). But for those that want the 'Mass Effect' world to continue life, and to take the next step forward on current-gen tech, 'Mass Effect: Andromeda' is the only name that matters. Today, Electronic Arts and Bioware unveiled a new look at the game. Along with the cinematic trailer comes both the snazzy box art and a tentative date: Spring 2017. As shown in the trailer, the Andromeda Galaxy isn't exactly built out of welcoming hands. Taking the role of the Pathfinder, the player will need a team of pros and experts in order to stake a claim. N7 Day: The Entire 'Mass Effect' Trilogy Comes to the Xbox One[teaser]Via 360 backwards compatibility.[/teaser] Today is November 7th, which for fans of 'Mass Effect' means it's N7 day, and happily, this year's N7 is an eventful one. 'Mass Effect' debuted on the Xbox 360 back in 2007, and was again featured on the Xbox One in 2015 in the very first slate of backwards compatible 360 games. Today, 'Mass Effect 2' and 'Mass Effect 3' join the list of backwards compatible titles. This trilogy is one of the best ever. All three games have their strengths, and for me, no game has since managed to create the kind of far-flung sci-fi world. ('Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare' is the closest thing.) This trilogy may stand alone, but a new game, 'Mass Effect: Andromeda,' is due out on current platforms in Spring 2017. With these three awesome games now playable on the Xbox One, I expect them to be further celebrated by fans old and new. And speaking of new fans, 'Mass Effect 2' and 'Mass Effect 3' have been added to the EA Access vault. Getting a crack at these games on the Xbox One can be done just with a simple ($5 for a month) EA Access subscription. (Disc and digital copies are, like with other b/c titles, also supported.) Come See the SVS Prime Elevation Speaker Unboxed[teaser]Immersive sound without the need for bounce.[/teaser] SVS has finally released their their Atmos, DTS:X and Auro-3D solution, the SVS Prime Elevation speaker. For height effects, the Prime Elevation speaker is meant to be mounted up high using the included two piece bracket (directed right at the listener), but of course that's only the beginning of what the Prime Elevation promises. The speaker, which is similar in design to the Prime Satellites can also be used as main left, center, or right speaker, and in such a case, can be placed above or below the display while still projecting sound directly at the listening position. Check out the unboxing below: The Prime Elevation can also be used as a surround speaker. Unlike bounce sound speakers, the Prime Elevation supports a robust frequency response of 55 Hz-25 kHz. (See full specs here.) With four Prime Elevation speakers and the new Marantz SR6011, it's pretty straightforward to set up four channel Atmos (2 in front + 2 in the back) as part of a 5.1.4 home theater. And with a four channels working for height effects, either Dolby Surround or DTS Neural:X can be used to up process nonnative Atmos/DTS:X encodes. While this applies to a lot of content, the area that most grabs me is in concord with the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Truly, AAA games, with their fully 3D soundscapes (like with 'Call of Duty: Infinite') are primed to make the most of the up processing and extension to height effect channels. 'Final Fantasy XV' Active Time Report Set for November 10th[teaser]More information to be revealed.[/teaser] Despite being just over three weeks away from release (!), Square Enix has announced that they will be hosting a 'Final Fantasy XV' Active Time Report stream on November 10th at 17:00PM JST, or 12:00AM PT. The stream is called the Paris Games Week Report+, and will mostly focus on recapping information revealed during Paris Games Week such as DLC and co-op, but there will also be new information and important announcements. You can watch the stream here. I'm not entirely sure what else they have to reveal, but it sounds like this will mostly focus on post-launch content, which I do think needs to be discussed in a little more detail. I'm excited to play this game and can't wait to see this report in just a few days time. 'Final Fantasy XV' will be released on PS4 and Xbox One on November 29th. Akuma to be Added to 'Street Fighter V'[teaser]Playable at Capcom Cup.[/teaser] During the North American regional finals at this year's Red Bull Battlegrounds tournament, Capcom announced that recurring series antagonist Akuma will be added to 'Street Fighter V' as a playable character. No hard date was given for when he'll be added, but he will be playable for the first time at the Capcom Cup event being held at the PlayStation Experience on December 3rd. You can catch his teaser trailer below: There's been a lot of speculation surrounding the kanji on his back, which implies he'll be playable in his Shin form. It's not clear though if he'll simply transform through his V Trigger, or he'll only be playable in that form. Either way, more new characters for 'SFV' is great, and I'm excited to check him out when he's added to the game. Blizzard Reveals Two New 'Heroes Of The Storm' Characters At BlizzCon[teaser]A new battleground is also incoming.[/teaser] At BlizzCon 2016 this weekend, Blizzard had a whole collection of reveals prepared for its MOBA, 'Heroes of the Storm.' Two new characters will be joining the Nexus before year's end, as well as a new game mode. King Varian and Ragnaros will both join the game's lineup of playable characters in 2016. Ragnaros is a melee assassin with some unique defensive capabilities. Ragnaros players can inhabit friendly Forts and Keeps to give them more literal firepower when enemies are on the offensive. Varian is being billed as the game's first multiclass hero. Depending on how the player decides to build Varian, they can pick up a shield to serve a tankier role or forgo the shield altogether for more of a damage-first approach. Also on the way is a new game mode. Blackheart's Revenge is an asymmetrical attack/defend map where one team is tasked with collecting cannonballs to fire at Captain Blackheart's invading ship. The other team must defend the ship until it is able to cross the map and destroy the first team's Core. Blizzard also unveiled the Nexus Challenge, an event running through January 4 that allows players to unlock content in both 'Heroes' and 'Overwatch' by playing games in a party. You can see all of the newly revealed 'Heroes' content in the trailer below. Source: BlizzardPosted Sun Nov 6, 2016 at 10:50 AM PST by:
