'Left 4 Dead' Developer Releases Unfinished Campaign Map[teaser]Giving new life to the definitive zombie title.[/teaser]An unfinished campaign map for 'Left 4 Dead' has been released to the public in a post on developer Turtle Rock Studios' forums by studio co-founder Chris Ashton. Titled Dam It, the campaign remains unfinished, and certain bugs are present, but it is playable. Some of the level's known bugs are listed over on the web page linked to by Ashton, which includes the campaign's download link and instructions. "Just finished putting the Dam campaign that we streamed a while back into a L4D addon," Ashton wrote. "It's gray box, and some code features are missing but it's playable from beginning to end. It also includes two standalone survival maps that never shipped." The campaign ends with a scenario where players need to traverse a trench to unblock the path forward, with enemies constantly shambling toward the ravine from the cliffs above. Players are encouraged to split up here, with a conveniently placed guard tower perfect for some teammates to use as a sniper nest to keep enemies away from those making the trench run. An illustrated breakdown of the map is also included on the campaign's download page. The Dam It campaign might not be polished to the level players are used to, but it is special to receive new content from the developers themselves for an 8-year-old game. Blizzard Announces Next Hearthstone Expansion With 'Mean Streets Of Gadgetzan'[teaser]Dive into Azeroth's criminal underworld later this year.[/teaser] At BlizzCon 2016 this weekend, Blizzard revealed the next expansion for Hearthstone, the publisher's mobile card-collecting title. Set to launch later this year, 'Mean Streets of Gadgetzan' will add 132 new cards to the game. The expansion focuses on three criminal factions in the gang-ridden city of Gadgetzan. Players will have the opportunity to recruit members of the Grimy Goons, the Kabal, and the Jade Lotus into their decks. Each faction comes with its own gameplay quirk. Each faction is also associated with three of the game's nine classes. The Grimy Goons claim Hunters, Paladins, and Warriors; the Kabal controls Mages, Priests, and Warlocks; and the Jade Lotus focuses on Druids, Rogues, and Shamans. This means that some neutral minions affiliated with a certain factions can only be played in specific types of decks. For players who want to jump into the expansion with a ready collection of new cards at launch, Blizzard is offering a one-time preorder bundle of 50 'Gadgetzan' card packs for $49.99 that will unlock once the expansion releases. You can check out the reveal trailer below for a sense of the expansion's setting and theme. Source: BlizzardPosted Sun Nov 6, 2016 at 08:00 AM PST by: -
Blizzard (FINALLY) Unleashes Sombra On 'Overwatch'[teaser]"Boop."[/teaser] After months of leaks, aggravating teases, and an ARG that could not have resolved at a worse possible time (the final part went up during the extra innings of the World Series, for crying out loud), Blizzard finally gave 'Overwatch' fans what they've known was coming: Mexican hacker Sombra has been formally anounced at Blizzcon. There's already a ton of info, and not just the stuff the leaks confirmed: She carries an SMG as a primary weapon, which does mild damage, but has massive clips. She has a Hack ability which strips away enemy abilities for a short period, disables devices (e.g. Torbjorn/Symmetra's turrets), and makes health packs unusable by the enemy. She can cloak, which renders her 100% invisible until she fires a weapon, takes any damage, or tries to hack something. She can throw a translocator beacon which she has the ability to teleport back to from anywhere. Lastly, she's got an EMP which completely neutralizes any shields and barriers, as well as auto-hacking every enemy/device in range. It all basically adds up to "she's gonna be a royal pain". On top of the formal announcement, Sombra also gets one of those snazzy short films Blizzard's been putting together for the roster, which is a pretty fun demonstration of her powers, which also apparently include lethal boops on the nose. Check it out below. PC players get first dibs, with Sombra being available in the Public Test Region starting next week. No official live date has been announced just yet, but Ana, the game's last addition, went live a week after she was in testing, so the wait shouldn't be too long for the rest of the world. Sucker Punch Details Three Reasons Why 'Infamous' Is Better on PS4 Pro[teaser]Both 'Second Son' and 'First Light' are seeing improvements.[/teaser] We now know exactly how 'Infamous Second Son' and 'Infamous First Light' will be enhanced on PS4 Pro. Sucker Punch Productions' Jason Connell went to the PlayStation Blog to explain how the two PlayStation 4 exclusive action games are made better. Connell breaks it down into three main reasons. The first major update is HDR support. Connell says that looking at the sun and sky in 'Infamous Second Sun' provides "a level of contrast I’ve never seen in our game before." Due to the game running at an increased resolution (and alias issues being fixed), players will also be able to notice smaller details in the environment that never stood out before. Finally, Connell says that the powers in the game look "amazing," especially in the improved photo-mode that lets players pause while performing a power. Both 'Infamous Second Son' and 'First Light' are available now on PlayStation 4. The PS4 Pro releases November 10th. Source: PlayStation BlogPosted Fri Nov 4, 2016 at 08:14 AM PDT by: -
'Drawn to Death' No Longer Free-to-Play, Launch Package Detailed[teaser]Game switches payment models mid-development.[/teaser] David Jaffe went to the PlayStation Blog today to announce that 'Drawn to Death,' his upcoming multiplayer shooter, will now be launching as a traditional paid game. Originally the game was going to be free-to-play, but the change was made after beta testing and listening to the game's community. While a price and date weren't revealed today, Jaffe did go over what will be in the game at launch. The game will feature six characters (which can be seen in the artwork below) at launch, although not all of these will be unlocked from the beginning. While not all characters will be able to be accessed staight away, no moves are locked up. Jaffe says that "when you unlock a character you get all of its moves, abilities, and weapons, right from the get-go." The shooter will also have 10 multiplayer maps at launch with more to come in the future. These levels (which were detailed on the PlayStation Blog) be played in a variety of modes that range from several variants of deathmatch to 'Organ Donor,' an objective-based mode where players must shoot the heart out of their foe's chest and then take it back to their base. 'Drawn to Death is coming exclusively to PlayStation 4 and a launch date is expected "soon." Source: PlayStation BlogPosted Fri Nov 4, 2016 at 08:01 AM PDT by: -

Brace for Impact: Come See 'Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare - Legacy Edition' Reviewed for the PS4[teaser]This is big.[/teaser] The 'Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare - Legacy Edition' (PS4) review is here, and with it comes a 'Call of Duty' campaign really unlike any other. As it turns out, Kit Harington really does know how to play a mean bastard, and the warped aggression of the SDF, well it something that needs to be dealt with. That means space battles. Take command of a space carrier, take the controls of a space fighter, and take magnetic boots and tear into any ship and tear out again. But there is more, much more. 'Zombies in Spaceland' plays like it was cooked up in the back of a Blockbuster video using an amalgam of VHS taped, 80's movie ideas. Oh, and then there is the seldom mentioned bundling of 'Modern Warfare Remastered' with 'Infinite Warfare.' That means that the 'Legacy Edition' has not one but two campaigns, and likewise, two multiplayer modes. One thing to consider in all of this. 'Infinite Warfare' on a standard PS4 looks something between good and stellar. Who's ready to see how the PS4 Pro version does?
