Atlus Teases New Fantasy RPG Project, Full Announcement On December 23rd[teaser]Being developed by 'Persona' veterans.[/teaser] Atlus has revealed that they will be announcing a brand new fantasy RPG project on December 23rd via NicoNico. The game will be developed by a new studio within Atlus called Studio Zero, and the game will be headed up by 'Persona 5' director Katsura Hashino, with character designs from Shigenori Soejima, also known for his work on the 'Persona' franchise. No platforms have been revealed for the game as of yet. Director Hashino acknowledges that most Atlus RPGs tend to go for settings that aren't traditional for JRPGs, and that this new project is adopting a more common fantasy setting in order to challenge genre norms and start over completely from zero, as opposed to working with the sorts of ideas that Atlus has become known for. No visuals for the game have been released other than a single character design, which you can see right here: Source: AtlusPosted Tue Dec 20, 2016 at 05:24 AM PST by: -
'Dynasty Warriors 9' Announced[teaser]A series-first foray into an open world.[/teaser] Koei Tecmo has officially announced 'Dynasty Warriors 9' the latest main entry in their popular series of hack and slash action games. No platforms have been announced for the game, but since it was announced at a Sony event, it is more than likely heading to PlayStation 4, and the game has been confirmed to be heading to the US and Europe. Described as a rebirth for the series, the game will be set in an open world with plenty of towns and open fields to freely explore, and all 83 characters that have appeared in the series thus far will be in this entry. Koei Tecmo also claims that all of China will be in the game's world, and that the combat may undergo fairly large changes from previous entries while still keeping the same feeling of being a single character up against thousands of enemies. The studio will host talks with special guests and show off projects that will commemorate the anniversary of the series, so it's safe to assume that we'll hear about some big new announcements. 'LittleBigPlanet' Dev Media Molecule Delays Beta For 'Dreams'[teaser]Don't let your 'Dreams' be dreams.[/teaser] The beta for 'Dreams,' a PS4 game announced at E3 2015, has been pushed out of 2016, developer Media Molecule announced. According to the developer, known as the studio behind 'LittleBigPlanet' and 'Tearaway,' the unexpected scale of the game has caused them to delay the beta rather than release an unfinished product. Despite the delay, according to the blog post by studio director Siobhan Reddy, the developers are still "well on the way, and have had a really productive year." 'Dreams' was pitched at Sony's E3 conference in 2015 as a title focused on player creation. You can watch the original reveal trailer below. Playing With Power: Best Buy Will Have NES Classic Editions This Week[teaser]Hoo boy.[/teaser] Thanks entirely to Nintendo's negligence shrewdness when it comes to drumming up support for their high in demand products, the appearance of the NES Classic out in the wild for its actual MSRP is now an event in and of itself. And this week, Best Buy is going to play host to said event. The NES Classic will be available in "limited qualities" this coming Tuesday at the retailer, according to reports from BGR, and indeopendently confirmed by Gamespot. The rundown is that it'll be handled like Black Friday, with tickets being handed out to customers in as much quantity as they'll actually have in stock. How many that'll be, who knows. They will not be giving that quantity over the phone. In a righteous world, there will be plenty and not, as many retailers saw the day the system launched, a paltry two or three. Either way, anyone looking to nail down that final Christmas gift, here's your moment. May the odds be ever in your favor. Source: GamespotPosted Sat Dec 17, 2016 at 09:34 AM PST by: -
The Coalition Releases 'Gearsmas' Holiday Customization Packs for 'Gears of War 4'[teaser]The true spirit of Christmas, at the end of a gingerbread boomshot.[/teaser] 'Gears of War 4' (see HDD's review here) is joining the litany of holiday-themed events with Gearsmas, live now through January 4th. Each pack, listed for 400 credits or $1, contains two items from the list of 28 customization options, ranging from ugly sweater characters to wrapping paper and gingerbread weapons. Also, any players who log in on December 16th and/or December 27th will receive a free gift, an emblem and a boomshot skin respectively. Gearsmas includes two special playlists: Snowball Fight, basically a boomshot versus mode, and Crossplay Versus. This is a continuation of an event they ran recently joining PC and Xbox One players together in multiplayer harmony. Both playlists will be in rotation throughout the Gearsmas festivities and offer a 50% xp boost. The Coalition also mentioned the upcoming UIR packs, a development outed a few weeks ago when both the Gearsmas and UIR offerings were accidentally put on the digital storefront for a few moments after a server update. The UIR is the Union of Independent Republics, a Russian-flavored confederacy that fought against the hegemonic Coalition of Ordered Governments in a human civil war on Sera before the apocalyptic events of E-Day. The Coalition will have more details on these packs come next week. Finally, 'Gears of War 4' itself is under a 35% discount for the holidays, so if you've been holding off on getting involved in the action, now's your chance to enjoy it for less than $40 (the Ultimate Edition is also on sale for $80, although the season pass is of questionable value at this point).
