'Blood Bowl 2's Necromantic Team DLC is Available Now For Free on PC[teaser]It adds .[/teaser] The fifth downloadable team for 'Blood Bowl 2' has been released on Steam, and this time it stars werewolves. The Necromantic team is comprised of flesh golems, zombies, the aforementioned werewolves, wights, and ghouls. All of these creatures will take to the football field to battle it out in this turn-based 'Warhammer' spin-off. The Necromantic DLC will set back buyers $6.99 in the future, but is free for 'Blood Bowl 2' owners on PC until the next DLC (featuring the Nurgle team) is released. While the Necromantic team is available now on computers, console players will have to wait until later this month to play (where it will be paid DLC). This is all part of Cyanide Studios' "founders incentive," where they are trying to please a fanbase that feels the game launched without enough content. 'The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing I' Coming to PS4, Will Support PS4 Pro[teaser]It'll take advantage of the PS4 Pro's extra power.[/teaser] NeocoreGames have announced that 'The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing I' will be coming to PlayStation 4. The action-RPG, which has previously been released on PC and Xbox One, stars the famous monster hunter Van Helsing, and takes place in a steampunk world filled with gruesome foes to take out. The downloadable title will support cooperative play, allowing players to team up, and player vs. player combat (for when those friendships inevitably go sour). While no release date was given for 'The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing I,' NeocoreGames did announce that the game will support PlayStation 4 Pro. This version of the game will "run in significantly higher resolution and with an even smoother frame rate." That's all that the developer has stated for now, but they are promising more details "soon." 'Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night' Delayed to 2018[teaser]Delayed to ensure it's as good as possible.[/teaser] 'Bloodstained', Koji Igarashi's terrific looking spiritual successor to the 'Castlevania' series, has announced that the game will not hit its planned 2017 release window. The game will now see the light of day in the first half of 2018. The reasoning behind this being that a new development team has been brought on to assist with production, as rushing to hit the current release window with the current team would lead to a game that falls below the quality Igarashi wants the game to have, stressing that this is all to ensure the game is the absolute best it can be. You can watch the delay announcement video below: It's a pretty big delay, but I have the utmost faith in this game considering the spectacular demo they released to backers during E3. Igarashi's 'Castlevania' titles are some of my favorite games ever, and I'm happy for him and his team to take as long as they need to with this. HDR Coming to 'NBA 2K17' on Xbox One S & PS4[teaser]But only one will be ready on release.[/teaser] The team at Visual Concepts has been working hard to get 'NBA 2K17' ready and worthy of being the premiere b-ball title. They've line up Michael B. Jordan for the story mode, the Men's National Team, the original Dream Team (for preorders), and even over hauled the commentary (see below). But one of the biggest features set to be offered in the game is HDR support. And now, not only will 'NBA 2K17' support HDR on the Xbox One S, but also on the PS4 (and PS4 Pro). HDR support for the PS4 version of 'NBA 2K17' will come via a patch post launch. (First Sony needs to get their update out.) Naturally, to enjoy HDR, users will need HDR-enabled TVs in addition to a HDR-enabled console and HDR-enabled content. The HDR-Enabled 'Forza Horizon 3' Demo Comes to Xbox One on September 11th[teaser]Get those Xbox One S consoles ready.[/teaser] Update: After being a no-show on the 11th, the demo is live now. Update 2: After further review, this demo does not have HDR on it. I'm expecting that change. 'Forza Horizon 3' is tantalizingly close to being released, but as has been welcome in the past few years, Microsoft will be offering a free demo ahead of release. That demo will drop on September 11th (get it here), and for those unfamiliar with the 'Horizon' franchise, this game series is extremely welcoming to new players. This time out, the road/off-road openworld racing goes to Australia, and players should expect some very beautiful visuals. This will be the first year that 'Horizon' will be playable on PC, but before that happens, the 'Forza Horizon 3' demo will offer something special on the Xbox One S. There has been plenty of discussion regarding HDR gaming over the past day, and over the past summer. But with the Xbox One S and the 'Forza Horizon 3' demo, the very first piece of HDR enabled gaming content will hit the public. As a reminder, HDR is only for specific Xbox One titles, and HDR is limited to the new Xbox One S console (see the 2TB console review here). The official release date for the full game is September 27th, but 'Ultimate Edition' buyers will get access come September 23rd. 'The Witness' PS4 Pro Mode in Development, Includes Improvements for Both 4K & 1080p Displays[teaser]HDR surprise.[/teaser] Jonathon Blow has shared some interesting new on upcoming 'The Witness' patch. Basically, PS4 Pro support is in the works, but it's also possible that HDR support for all PS4s could be happen as well. In terms of PS4 Pro support, 'The Witness' will distinguish between a 4K connected PS4 Pro and a 1080p connected PS4 Pro. The specifics have not been finalized, but there is an outline of what the aim is for both situations. Via the-witness.net, here’s what we are aiming for: When you start up the game on a PS4 Pro, it will go into one of two modes, depending on the current display device: * When using PS4 Pro with a 4k display, we will render at 1440p or possibly higher, all while keeping a consistent 60 frames per second. This image will then be upscaled to 4k, and we will draw text, menus, and other UI at native 4k resolution. (This is similar to what happens on the base PS4, where we render the 3D scene at 900p, then upscale to 1080p and draw UI at 1080p). We might be able to achieve resolutions higher than 1440p based on various engineering tradeoffs (for example, if we boost the resolution of the main scene to a greater degree than we boost the resolution of the reflections in water, which tend to be distorted anyway. Also, we’ll evaluate checkerboard rendering — we’re not sure if it’s the right way to go for this game, but we’ll see.) We’ll post again when we finalize these specs. * When using PS4 Pro with a display that is 1080p or lower, we will render the scene at 1080p (instead of the old 900p), and increase antialiasing quality from 2x to 4x MSAA, again while keeping a solid 60 frames per second. We are exploring additional visual quality increases, like increased streaming distance for high-resolution meshes, or decreasing the noticeability of the fade-in between faraway LODs and high-res close-up meshes. Again, we’ll post details when this is finalized! We’re also working on HDR support. Here in the office we just got a new LG B6P television, which is very bright and has low black levels, providing a lot of dynamic range, and it’s been fun so far tweaking the look of the game on HDR displays like this. So here again, a developer is taking some care to offer a nice performance bump for an already released title, and that's true for both 4K HDR sets and HD sets.
