That's right, it's Dream Team time. The 2016 USA Men's National Team, including Coach K (a first for 'NBA 2K') the evil Kevin Durant, and cover star Paul George to name a few will be in the game in a team form. That means Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Clyde Drexler, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone and David Robinson and more. The March of Directed Audio Continues: See HyperSound Monitor Glass in Action[teaser]It could be a game-changer.[/teaser] HyperSound continues to be a marvel, and at E3 2016, the Monitor prototype really caught fire with me (see impressions here). What I'm going on about is HyperSound Monitor Glass. It's directed audio (can only be heard when in the beam), it is being developed to be part of a display (and not an overlay), and its power grows directly in proportion to the size of the display. But rather than me trying once more to explain how the technology works and what it's like to hear it/see it. Turtle Beach now has an illustrative video which somewhat compares where the prototype is now. So now imagine a 65" display with HyperSound Monitor Glass. Not only would it have something as elementary as stereo channels, it could eventually even map specific audio to precise areas of the screen. I'm saying have the dialog actually come from the characters' faces. And being directed audio, it should only be heard by anyone in the path of the screen. Such possibilities. PlayStation Plus August Games: 'Tricky Towers,' 'Rebel Galaxy,' 'Yakuza 5' & More[teaser]Plus, 'Patapon 3,' 'Retro/Grade' and more.[/teaser] As July peters out, Sony has come up with an interesting mix of games for August's PlayStation Plus line-up. On PS4, there is the brand-new 'Tricky Towers' as well as the sci-fi pirate joy of 'Rebel Galaxy' (review here). There's also 'Ultratron,' which works for PS4, PS3, and Vita. On PS3, there is the late-gen gem, 'Yakuza 5' (review here) and 'Retro/Grade.' Finally, on Vita, there is 'Patapon 3.' The inclusion of 'Rebel Galaxy' and 'Yakuza 5' make this a nice line-up for me, but I can also see where many would not be impressed. 'No Trace' Is a Slick, Indie Take on Games Like 'Hitman'[teaser]With an awesome low-poly look and electronic soundtrack.[/teaser] British developer Square Mountain has released a trailer for their upcoming top-down stealth action game 'No Trace', which looks an awful lot like a more stylized, snappy take on games like 'Hitman'. Players control Agent Sonder, planning missions as carefully as they want to, or simply going in guns blazing. Observing targets and their environments will reveal detailed information to help explot behavioral patters and find items to best carry out each kill, while in true 'Hitman' fashion, you can also disguise yourself like guards to gain access to otherwise restricted areas. You can catch the new trailer right here: This looks really neat, and as a big fan of the new 'Hitman' games, I'm all for developers going for something similar to that series. It's due out on PC this Fall. Source: Square MountainPosted Wed Jul 27, 2016 at 06:31 AM PDT by: -
'Overwatch' Patch Buffs Ana and Nerfs McCree[teaser]Welcome adjustments all around.[/teaser] The latest update to 'Overwatch' has just hit yesterday, buffing Ana barely a week into her full implementation into the game and giving McCree (already the subject of multiple nerfs) some needed adjustments. First off, Ana, who Blizzard has stated to be "very well received" but "a little weaker overall", has received a rate of fire increase of 20%, while also having her magazine capactiy increased from 8 to 10. A fairly straightforward buff, but definitely a substantial one. I'm really glad Blizzard is taking major steps to make support characters viable, having just given Zenyatta some much needed improvements as well. Second, McCree has been nerfed in a few areas while seeing improvements in others. Most notably, his range has been decreased, with bullets dropping off in damage 10 meters earlier than they did previously, it's worth noting that his range is still higher than it was at launch, however. His alternate fire, the subject of a great deal of frustration for many, has seen a 15% rate of fire increase, and flashbang recovery time has been decreased from 0.5 seconds to 0.35. I'm not sure how I feel about the changes, as this seems to be shifting him more towards close-range combat, but we'll see how it pans out. Finally, all targets of Ana's sleep darts won't get woken up instantly by taking damage, with recovery time now being 0.5 seconds. I'm surprised to see Ana receiving such substantial buffs so soon, but Blizzard's commitment to tweaking and perfecting the game is commendable, and this gives me a lot more reason to actually try her out from now on. 'Lady Layton' Announced for 3DS and Mobile[teaser]Layton's daughter takes center stage.[/teaser] Though the 'Professor Layton' series wrapped up just a few years ago, Level-5 has announced that they will be continuing the series with the recently announced 'Lady Layton' for 3DS, Android, and iOS, starring the daughter of the old Professor, Catoleil Layton. The story sees her working as a detective in London, solving any and all case she's given alongside her talking dog Sharo while she searches for her missing father. You can catch the game's debut trailer below: The gameplay seems to be the same mix of adventure and puzzle solving that made the eariler games so beloved, and I'm really excited to try it out with the new protagonist. Much as I love the series, this is a shakeup it's needed for quite some time. It'll be due out in Spring 2017 in Japan, while no release has been confirmed for the West just yet. Both 500GB & 1TB Xbox One S Bundles Coming This Month, Preorder Now to Get Either 'Madden 17' or a Mess of 'Halo' Games Free[teaser]Should apply to existing preorders.[/teaser] The 2TB Xbox One S is due out on August 2 for $399, but today, Microsoft has launched its biggest console marketing salvo since E3 2016. Not only are both the 1TB and 500GB Xbox One S models coming in August (on August 23rd), but both are being positioned at launch as part of bundles that include games at no extra cost. And we're not talking about just any games, the Xbox One S Madden NFL 17 Bundle features a 1TB hard drive, a digital version of 'Madden 17,' and a month of EA Access for $349. That price is the same price that Microsoft had set for a 1TB Xbox One S on its own, so this appears to a very strong deal in partnership with EA. (For Amazon customers, existing 1TB preorders should now covert to this bundle.) Order 1TB from Amazon Of course, the 500GB Xbox One S has always been attractive thanks to its $299 price. And now that 500GB model will at launch be featured in the Xbox One S Halo Collection Bundle. The bundle features a 500GB Xbox One S, 'Halo 5: Guardians' and 'Halo: The Master Chief Collection,' and this is still for the $299 price. The release date is also August 23rd. (For Amazon customers, existing 500GB preorders should now covert to this bundle.) Order 500GB from Amazon That is really five 'Halo' games included for that same announced $299 price. There will also be a 1TB version of the Xbox One S Halo Collection Bundle for $349, but the model will be a limited offering direct from the Microsoft store. Naturally, one of the biggest features of the Xbox One S is Ultra HD Blu-ray playback. (See more details on the Ultra HD Blu-ray playback here and here) The Xbox One S is also 40% smaller than the original Xbox One, and that's partly because the Xbox One S has no power brick. The new console plays all Xbox One games and also supports the 360 backwards compatibility of certain titles. The Xbox One S comes with a new controller that has built-in Bluetooth support as well improved range with the Xbox One. The Xbox One S comes in white and also has a built-in IR blaster. The Xbox One S can be used while stood up vertically. Source: Xbox WirePosted Tue Jul 26, 2016 at 07:55 AM PDT by: -
'Summon Night 6: Lost Borders' Releasing in February 2017[teaser]$150 Special Edition also revealed.[/teaser] Yesterday, Victor Ireland of Gaijinworks confirmed that the upcoming 'SRPG' Summon Night 6' will be making its way to PS4 and PS Vita in the West in February 2017. The latest in a long line of beloved SRPGs, most of the series had been left to languish outside of Japan, but Gaijinworks has made a concerted effort with the franchise, having brought over 'Summon Night 5' in December last year. The publisher has also confirmed that the game will be receiving a $150 'Wonderful Edition' on PS4, which will contain a 200-page hardcover artbook, a 32-track soundtrack, one of three possible 7" plush figures, four PVC coasters, a 21"x30" poster, as well as a giant box to contain it all. It's a pretty hefty limited edition, but it's cool to see a publisher go all out with this sort of thing. I really loved the previous game, and can't wait to check this one out for myself when it releases next year. Source: GaijinworksPosted Tue Jul 26, 2016 at 06:39 AM PDT by:
