Rockstar Completes the Set With 'Manhunt' on PS3
Fri May 10, 2013 at 08:30 AM ETTags: Rockstar, PS3 (all tags)
'Manhunt' joining the PS2 Classics lineup next week.
Rockstar Game has announced that 'Manhunt' is coming to the PS3. The game, which puts player in the kill-or-be-killed world of James Earl Cash is one of Rockstar's most violent games, and also something of a cult hit.
'Manhunt' is coming to the PS3 as part of the PS2 Classics line, which means that it is a digial versions of the same game that went on sale in 2003 for the PS2, no more and no less. Rockstar regularly runs into licensing issues with re-releases, but in the case of 'Manhunt,' the PS2 era violence might not be able to manage an HD re-release.
The PS2 Classics version of 'Manhunt' will be priced at $9.99 / €9.99 / £7.99 and joins 'Bully,' 'Red Dead Revolver' and all of the PS2 era 'Grand Theft Auto' titles in the PS2 Classics Collection. Rockstar also has teased that 'The Warriors' may be the next Rockstar title to join the PS2 line. The PC version of 'Manhunt' is available on Amazon and on Steam.

A Second Wave of Sony's $10 PSN Credit is Spreading Through North America
Thu Mar 14, 2013 at 10:30 AM ETTags: PSN, PS3, Sony (all tags)
The initial wave thanked loyal customers, now others seem to be benefitting.
Last month, Sony very quietly sent out huge batches of $10 credits through the PSN messaging system. The messages described the credit as a "thank you for being a loyal customer and fan of the PlayStation Network." As with similar promotions, users needed to check their PSN message box, and the credit was set to expires unless redeemed and thereby added to the user's wallet. (Banked, rather than spent.)
Reports of a second wave are now cropping up, and it seems that less frequent PSN users are the beneficiaries. It is likely that users are supposed to be encouraged to utilize PSN with the credit, however, if the credit is not added to the user's funds before the expiration date (03/25/13 in the latest instance), then the credit will no longer be available.
The stealthy campaign is considerably widespread, and the best way to check for the credit is through a PS3, PS Vita, PSP. From the XMB the users should navigate to the right towards the XMB inbox.

'Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX' for the PS3 Announced for North America
Mon Feb 25, 2013 at 10:30 AM ETTags: Kingdom Hearts, PS3 (all tags)
The Square Enix Disney Collaboration returns with both 'Chain of Memories' and '358/2 Days' Content
Both fans and strangers to the 'Kingdom Hearts' series have been hoping and awaiting a HD re-release of the very first 'Kingdom Hearts' title, and Square Enix is now ready to deliver. The PS2 title, which combines elements of the 'Final Fantasy' series with Disney characters in an action role-playing game, is widely popular in Japan and has a large cult following around the world, which has lead to several sequels.
'Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX' is no mere HD re-release, however, as it adds in elements from other games into the series, most notably 'Chain of Memories.' Originally a Game Boy Advance title, 'Chain of Memories' was remade into a PS2 title, 'Kingdom Hearts: Re: Chain of Memories,' and is a direct sequel to the first game. 'Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX' includes an HD and Trophy-enabled version of both 'Kingdom Hearts' and 'Re: Chain of Memories' with added content for 'Kingdom Hearts' from the once-exclusive 'KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX.' In addition, HD cutscenes, from the DS title 'Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days' will be included in this new PS3 title.
'Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX' is expected for release this fall in North America and Europe.

'The Last of Us' Rumored Release Date Slips to Mid-June
Wed Feb 13, 2013 at 10:30 AM ETTags: PS3 (all tags)
Retailer listings shift date from May 7th to June 18th.
Naughty Dog's 'The Last of Us' had been set for a May 7th release date ever since a December 9th, 2012 post on PlayStation.Blog by Arne Meyer, Community Strategist at Naughty Dog. Recently, though, retailers began shifting the dates for the collector's editions to June 18th, and now that date seems to apply to all copies. There is even a Best Buy pre-order email floating around that confirms the new date.
Neither Sony nor Naughty Dog have yet released a statement, and the possibility of a further delay remains.

This Generation: 'Star Wars 1313' Appears on PlayStation Germany's Facebook
Thu Jan 17, 2013 at 09:30 AM ETTags: Star Wars, LucasArts, PS3 (all tags)
Teases a 2013 release date for the PS3 version.
A post consisting of a gallery of 'Star Wars 1313' images was discovered on PlayStation Germany's Facebook by a NeoGAF user. This post contains the header "Star Wars 1313 erscheint 2013," thereby teasing a 2013 release date.
The game's demo at E3 had the internet declaring it a game destined for the 360 and PS3's respective successors, but LucasArts has remained mum to this point.
With any luck, this Facebook post will lead to a press release, until then full skepticism is recommended.

Sony's Game Division Loses $45 Million in First Quarter of 2012
Thu Aug 02, 2012 at 03:30 PM ETTags: Sony, PS3, Videogame Sales (all tags)
Lower hardware sales to blame, says Sony.
Things haven't been going super well for the folks at Sony, and the game division is feeling the hurt too. According to an announcement from the company, Sony's game division took a $45 million loss in the first quarter of this year.
Sony says that selling nearly half a million fewer PS2 and PS3 consoles, and nearly half a million fewer handheld consoles than last year is the main cause of the loss. Software sales shrunk to 20.1 million copies from 27.6 million a year ago. Of course, if less hardware is sold, less software is going to be leaving store shelves.

NCsoft is Working on a Console Version of 'Guild Wars 2'
Fri Feb 17, 2012 at 10:30 AM ETTags: Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, NCSoft, PC, PS3, Xbox 360, MMORPGs (all tags)
The trend of formerly PC exclusive titles making their way to consoles continues with the soon to be released MMORPG.
There are some games that have traditionally been PC only. It's not about exclusivity deals or marketing, but an issue of control schemes. Without a mouse and keyboard, titles like 'Diablo' and 'Command and Conquer' just haven't played well.
As of recently though, big name developers are giving consoles another go. Blizzard has announced that 'Diablo III' will be coming to consoles and now NCsoft says that a console version of 'Guild Wars 2' will be launched. The primary focus, they say, is still on the PC version.
'Guild Wars 2' will not have a monthly fee, which will certainly make it more palatable to the console audience, but it's the control scheme that could make or break the game.
