Eidos Montreal Compelled to Show 'Thief'

New trailer teases game for the PC, PS4, and "other next generation consoles."

Ever since 'Thief: Deadly Shadows' was released back in 2004, series' fans have been waiting for a new installment. With Square Enix slowly but surely resurrecting some of the IPs acquired over the last decade, including 'Tomb Raider,' 'Hitman,' and Eidos Montreal's 'Deus Ex: Human Revolution,' a new 'Thief' had been promised, and now begins its marketing in earnest.

The game is powered by Unreal 3, and has been described as a reboot of the franchise. The game retains the series' first person perspective and setting in the fictional 'The City,' but will have to manage with a new voice actor for the protagonist for reasons not dissimilar to a recent trend of signature voice actor shake-ups.

There have been three previous 'Thief' titles, but this is the first one to be named simply 'Thief.' Thief' is expected next year for the PC, PS4, and Xbox 360 successor and is available for pre-order.

HD Remasters of 'Final Fantasy X & Final Fantasy X-2' Coming to the PS3 and the PS Vita

Square Enix has released a new trailer along with details.

A single discs will deliver both games, 'Final Fantasy X' and its direct sequel 'Final Fantasy X-2' to the PlayStation 3, while the two game will be split for the PS Vita.

Originally PlayStation 2 titles, the games are poised to have content added that was not previously available in North America. Likewise, the sphere grid, a system for directing player characters' level abilities is also likely to be updated. The game's visuals are being reworked to include HD textures, with specific care character models. The title's pre-rendered cutscenes contain the largest amount of the game's stunning if polarizing visual design, and may be the largest aspects to benefit from what Square Enix is calling a hd remastering process.

'Final Fantasy X' was popular and expensive enough to warrant the series first direct sequel, 'Final Fantasy X-2.' The new version will hope to garner new Titus and Yuna fans when it releases later this year.

'Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster' is availble for pre-order here.

Square Enix Announces Release Dates for 'Theatrythm Final Fantasy' and 'Kingdom Hearts 3D'

Both will be hitting in July, with 'Theatrythm' being the first.

Square Enix has announced release dates for upcoming 3DS versions of two of its most popular franchises. First up is 'Theatrythm Final Fantasy,' which isn't up on Amazon yet but comes to shelves on July 3rd. It also might take the title of "Worst Square Enix" game name from 'Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.'

The slightly more sensibly titled 'Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance' is set to release on July 31st, giving fans more enemies, more Disney worlds and two protagonists.

Is it possible to make enough jokes at the expense of the current Square Enix naming convention? We think not.

'Chrono Trigger' Comes to the iPhone

Tags: iPhone, iTunes, Square Enix, Chrono Trigger (all tags)

It's one of the most highly regarded RPGs of all time and it's yours for $9.99

From the sound of a ticking clock that opens the game to the final battle with Lavos, from BC to AD and from Alya to Robo, 'Chrono Trigger' is one of the most beloved roleplaying games of all time. It blew nearly everything else out of the water during the 16 bit era and completely captured fans with the variety of ending available to unlock.

Today the acclaimed game is available for the iPhone at a price of $9.99. Unlike many games that make the jump from the console to a touchscreen, 'Chrono Trigger' should be well adapted to the platform. After all, it was released on the DS recently, and offered a variety of touch-screen options.

You can pick up the game now on iTunes.
